    A QAJAR ENAMELLED GOLD NECKLACE AND MATCHING EARRINGS
    IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
    The necklace with pendant of cusped ogival form set on a green enamelled back, with central inverted drop shape surrounding rosette with turquoise inset centre and plain green border, around this a band of cut scrolling leaves with trefoil palmettes at top and bottom, three seed pearl and green stone suspensions below, suspended on six chains of seed pearls with four similar suspensions, gold clasp, the earrings each with an upper domed section above a larger domed element above a lower drop shaped pendant, the main central element decorated with a band of polychrome enamelled floral sprays and birds between minor geometric and floral bands, the upper band and pendant with similar simpler motifs, a fringe of seed pearls around the lower edge of each element, wire loop above with two suspended emeralds
