    TWO SMALL JADE NECKLACE CLOSING DEVICES
    LATE SHANG/EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, CIRCA 1200-1100 BC
    Both in the form of a simple mask with oblong eyes and tall upright ears, one of greyish-white stone with russet alteration, with slightly convex front, the nose carved at the bottom edge, with a biconical hole drilled through the forehead, the other flatter, the ears and narrow sides beveled, drilled below the eyes with a biconical hole that pierces a channel in the back, the stone now of olive-brown color with opaque buff alteration
