    A double-breasted reefer jacket of black wool woven with a pale grey stripe, fastening with brass buttons, partially lined in black cotton, labelled inside Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc, Hollywood, Cal, the label inscribed in an unknown hand in black ink with artist's name E.G. Robinson [partially obscured by an ink-stamp S16] and date 10-31-40 -- made for Edward G. Robinson as Captain Wolf Larsen in the 1941 Warner Bros. film The Sea Wolf, 1941; accompanied by a corresponding still, (printed later) -- 10x8in. (25.4x20.3cm.) (2)

    The Sea Wolf was the film adaption of Jack London's novel of the same name. Edward G. Robinson played the tyrannical Captain Wolf Larsen who helmed a seal-hunting ship The Ghost. Directed by Michael Curtiz and co-starring Ida Lupino and John Garfield this action movie was the first film to have its world première on a ship, the luxurious line 'America' during a trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
