For The Spy Who Loved Me film, Bond was supplied with a Lotus Esprit. In addition to various standard-issue weapons, at the flick of a switch the wheels withdrew and the car, converted into a submarine. In one of the most memorable scenes featuring the Lotus, the car, after an underwater battle, reverted to land mode and emerged from the waves, innocently driving up a beach to the amazement of the sunbathing tourists.
