This triptych derives from an altarpiece by Pieter Coecke van Aelst I in the Church of St. Plechelmus, Oldenzaal (see M.J. Friedländer, Jan van Scorel and Pieter Coeck van Aelst, XII, Leyden, 1975, p. 104, figs. 72-3).
