    William Benjamin Carter (1813-1885) was a biologist and university administrator noted for his contributions to the Medico-Chirurgical Review and for playing an instrumental role in the administration during the creation of the Modern University of London and the expansion of science degrees. (R. Smith, Oxford Dictionary of National Biography).
