THESE PAINTINGS SIMPLY TITLED THERE 07-1, THERE 07-2, THERE 07-3 AND THERE 07-4 (LOT 712) POINT TOWARDS KIM'S DEPICTION OF ARBITRARY MOMENTS AND LANDSCAPES. WHILE THE TITLES SUGGEST THAT PERHAPS THE PAINTER OR SWIMMER VISITED THE SITE AT MONTHLY INTERVALS OF JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH AND APRIL THIS IS TRULY SPECULATION, THE LOCATION OF THIS LANDSCAPE IS JUST AS VAGUE. WHETHER CAUGHT IN A RIVER IN THE AMAZON, THE JUNGLES OF AFRICA OR ANOTHER REMOTE, UNKEMPT MANGROVE, THE DEPICTED MAN IN THESE FOUR PAINTINGS FLOW AND IS AT ONE WITH HIS ENVIRONMENT. UNAFRAID OF THE UNTAMED TREES AND ENTANGLED WEEDS, THE MAN SWIMS NAKED, EMBRACING AND BREATHING A SIGH OF RELIEF IN THIS WILD SETTING. AT THE SAME TIME, THERE IS AN AIR OF RESISTANCE IN THE ENTANGLING WEEDS, PERHAPS A PERSONIFICATION OF THE MAN'S EMOTIONS.

THE INTENSITY AND DEPTH OF THE WILDERNESS IS FURTHER EXEMPLIFIED BY THE THICK LAYERING OF OIL PAINTS. WHILE THE VARIOUS SHADES OF GREEN EXUDE A DENSITY THAT IS ALMOST CLAUSTROPHOBIC, THE BRIGHT LIGHTING THAT SHINES THROUGH THE BACK OF THE FOLIAGE AND THE CLEAR SKY WHICH PEAKS OVER THE CANOPIES IS LIKE A LUNGFUL OF FRESH AIR. THE RESULTING IMAGE IS NOT SOLEMN AND SILENT BUT ALIVE, ONE THAT ALLOWS THE SWIMMER TO CONTEMPLATE ALONE OR BATHE IN SERENITY.
