    Tsar Alexander I of Russia (1777-1825), in black uniform with gold-embroidered red collar, gold epaulettes, wearing the blue sash of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Andrew with medals; together with Count Pavel Andreevich Shuvalov (1776-1823), in black coat, gold-embroidered red collar, gold epaulettes and aiguellette, wearing the breast-star of the Imperial Russian Order of St. Anne (1st class), the Military Order of St. George (3rd class), the Austrian Order of Maria Theresa, the Prussian 'Pour le Mérite', the Campaign medal of 1812 and the Prussian Kulm Cross (Russian School, circa 1815); together with a gentleman called Room, in pale blue coat, pink and blue striped waistcoat, lace cravat, powdered hair en queue (Russian School, circa 1790)

    Count Shuvalov saw active service during the wars against the French, for which he was awarded various medals including the Order of St. George, and promoted to Major General. He was one of the captors who accompanied Napoléon into exile on Elba.
