..."My approach to landscape is the result of a confrontation with my interiorization of the land. I like to do rapid watercolour sketches where I capture something of the emotion of the landscape. I prefer to go to the forest, climb trees, eat fruit, swim in the river and enjoy nature in a sensorial way. I like to meditate before the landscape. That gives me a different perspective when I finally sit down to paint one. While other painters start by intellectualizing nature, I think of myself as recreating it..."
(Tomás Sánchez quoted in E.J. Sullivan, Tomás Sánchez, Milan, 2003, p. 19).
