    Eight black and white portrait photographs by Angus McBean comprising: five portraits of a male model [probably Sebastian Minton], each signed and annotated in pencil by photographer, largest -- 6½x4½in. (16.25x11.25cm.); two black and white vintage prints of the same model, both -- 7¾x5¾in. (20x15cm.); a portrait photograph of Quentin Crisp, with an inscription in blue ink in McBean's hand Portrait of Mr. Crisp as Neil Dickie; and an envelope addressed to Sebastian Minton Esq. in black ink in McBean's hand (9)

    In the late 1940s Angus McBean formed a close, yet brief, relationship with Sebastian Minton. Minton harboured ambitions of becoming an actor and, with McBean's help, put together a photographic portfolio, parts of which are included in this lot.
