    etching, 1630, a very good impression of the third, final state after the plate had been reduced, with thread margins, a small pen and ink number at the lower right sheet corner, in very good condition

    In the third state Rembrandt reduced the plate resulting in a more intimate, close-up view of the sitter. Without the somewhat theatrical oriental cloak and necklace worn in the previous two states the pose is more natural and makes it a more penetrating psychological study.
