Given the tribal quality of the design, this lot was probably woven by Kurdish weavers in the Northwest region of Persia. Although the inner guard border is relatively simple, the polychrome rosettes and broad representation of colors contribute to the movement and energy of the rug. Of particular interest is the variation of floral elements including beautifully executed multicolored pin-wheel rosettes and split-leaves.
