The highly stylised and abstract design of the present lot with its vibrant colours is very reminiscent of the carpets of Boujad. This weaving centre produces carpets in various styles owing to the large number of Arab tribes that weave carpets on the surrounding plains. For a similar example see, Brooke Pickering, W. Russell Pickering and Ralph S. Yohe, Moroccan Carpets, Maryland, 1994, p.44, pl.15. The yellow wool wefted structure of the present lot however, indicates that this lot was woven in the High Atlas region.
