    The rug is woven with red and yellow scrolling flowers on a blue ground. The border is woven with the place name Wenhua Dian, which may be translated as 'Hall of Literary Glory'.

    The Wenhua Dian was a ceremonial hall where the Palace Examination papers were reviewed and where the Emperor would host royal seminars.
