    THE BUST OFFERED HERE WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED FROM DESCENDANTS OF ARCHBISHOP COUNT SALM AND IT WAS TRADITIONALLY KNOWN AS A PORTRAIT OF HIM. IT WAS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN EXECTUED BY JOHAN NEPUMUK PROBST AND STYLISTC COMPARISON OF THE BUST WITH PROBST'S WORK SUPPORTS THIS THEORY. A MARBLE BUST OF KAISER JOSEPH II SIGNED BY PROBST DISPLAYING A VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL HAIR STYLE, FACIAL FEATURES AND ATTENTION TO THE DRAPERY WAS OFFERED FOR SALE IN THE DOROTHEUM, VIENNA, 8 MAY 2007, LOT 23.
