    A bronze figure of Durga
    India, Himachal Pradesh, 12th century
    Expressively cast with the eight-armed Durga striding above the defeated buffalo with the demon emerging from its neck, the trident in her primary right hand piercing her wounded prey and her other arms radiating about her body holding implements including the sword, shield, chakra and bow, clad in a long dhoti with incised patterns and a shawl flowing across her shoulders, round earrings, her hair pulled into a high chignon secured with a foliate tiara, joined at her feet by her lion mount biting the buffalo, all over a footed plinth and backed by a gateway with large lotus mandorla
