This figure represents the pinnacle of style reached by the 14th century, with tremendous power and presence, yet at once graceful and elegant. Given the large size of the piece, it was impossible to cast the figure in one, so it is ingeniously cast in sections and discretely joined. The drapery is treated with great delicacy, gathered in undulating folds across the shoulder, the toes and fingers are wonderfully pronounced and animated.
