    Nickel-finished lever movement, 18 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance, engine-turned silvered dial, Arabic numerals, concealed under two sliding shutters with white enamel initials CTB JR, opened by depressing the cabochon sapphire-set crown, plain slim circular case, snap on back, case signed and numbered, dial and movement signed

    The éclipse or shutter watch was designed by Edmond Jaeger for Cartier in the early 1910s, the first patent (no. 412'821) was issued in 1910, the second for a modified version with two dials (no. 16'918) in 1913.
