With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1990 and its subsequent sale on May 11th of the same year. Further accompanied by a Patek Philipp wooden presentation box and outer packaging.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.

Patek Philippe launched the 3970 and 3971 in 1986. Both references were essential the same, however the 3970 was fitted with a solid snap on flat back, whereas the 3971 was fitted with a glazed screw back. Patek Philippe ended production of the 3971 in 1990 and merged both the 3970 and 3971 together with the new 3970 sold in a solid and additional sapphire crystal display back. The present watch is from the last year of production. The case is tarnished, however unbelievably crisp, in almost unused condition with extremely sharp hallmarks to the side of the lugs.
