    Château Pichon-Longueville, Baron 1990
    Pauillac, 2ème cru classé
In original wooden cases. Excellent appearance. Levels: base of neck or better
Tasting note: Ten notes over a period of five years. Very deep and very sweet, but with an easy style despite its richness at the MW tasting in 1994. Several notes in the mid-1990s, contexts varying. It seemed full and austere in a mixed 'flight' of '90s Cabernets in 1996, 'rather tarry' noted several times, even 'creosote and liquorice' alongside Ch Lynch-Bages the following year. My most detailed note made at a Christie's wine course tasting of '90s in March 1999. Briefly, still looking mouthfillingly deep, its crisp black-fruit aroma opening up voluptuosly. Very fruity yet with good grip, 'needs six more years'. All the wines in this tasting had been purchased from Farr Vintners. Last tasted lunching at the Mairie in Bordeaux, April 1999 ***(*) M.B
