A GREEK GOLD AND GARNET BEAD NECKLACE
HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 2ND-1ST CENTURY B.C.
Composed of cylindrical faceted garnet beads, interspersed with gold beads each composed of three large spheres with clusters of granulation in between, a disk flange at the ends, centered by three drop-shaped cabochon garnets in box settings, each with a ribbed suspension loop, rings below joined to uncut garnets, spherical beads in between, tapered collars at the ends; strung with a modern S-hook closure
