2o (260 x 180imm). Roman and italic types, the poem printed in two columns. Engraved title by Thomas Coxsoniss, each chapter with a rectangular border enclosing the Argument, woodcut capitals, 46 full-page engraved and etched plates derived from Girolamo Porro's series of illustrations (Venice 1584). (Leaf I1 with strip torn from margin, P4 and Nn4 with paper flaws, small repairs to Z3, 2B3 and 2B4, a few tiny marginal wormholes in final quires, new free endpaper at back.) Contemporary polished calf, covers with central gilt arabesque medallion, flanked by blind-tooled initials "I" and "T." (Spine replaced in 17th century, repairs at head and bottom); cloth folding box. Provenance: Marginalia and an ink inscription facing title, by an early reader; Thomas Brooke (armorial bookplate); Boies Penrose II (Old East India House and second armorial bookplate); acquired from John Fleming, 1976.
