This watercolour is one of a series of drawings and watercolours after old and modern masters, mostly executed in the 1860s after works in the collections and special exhibitions of the Musée des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux and the Louvre in Paris. The present work may be after Jan van Huysum's Fruit and Wild Flowers (Col. M.H. Grant no. 193; present location unknown).
