Of sectional construction in six parts, the three pitched top above seven dials with central relief carved thirty two point compass, the base carved with inscription '1850 / ABEL TURNER / DIALLlST'

An Abel Turner is recorded in the 1851 Census as a stone mason in Wooldale, Yorkshire the same village where the current lot has been in-situ in a private residence.
