Lot Essay

The architectural outline as well as its distinctly wide and volute-capped arms relates this cassapanca to two 16th century examples preserved at the Palazzo Davanzati in Florence (illustrated S. Colombo, L'Arte del Legno e del Mobile in Italia, Turin, 1981, cats. 220 and 223).
