    The exterior is decorated with a continuous scene depicting a lady dancing to music by three musicians, with three ladies looking on.

    The four-character commendation mark can be translated as "Scholarship high as the mountain and the Great Bear".

    One poetic subject and one figural subject blue and white brush pot bearing the wen zhang shan dou mark, are illustrated in Shanghai Museum, Kangxi Porcelain Wares from the Shanghai Museum Collection, Hong Kong, 1998, pl. 45 and 46, pp. 68-71.
