    WALKING STICKS FROM THE COLLECTION FORMED BY 1ST VISCOUNT BOYD OF MERTON

    THIS IS A SELECTION OF THE FIRST VISCOUNT BOYD OF MERTON'S COLLECTION OF WALKING STICKS. HE GATHERED EXAMPLES ALL HIS LIFE, PRIMARILY BETWEEN 1954 AND 1959 WHILE HE WORKED AS SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES, GATHERING SOME INTERESTING AFRICAN AND NON-EUROPEAN EXAMPLES. IN TOTAL HE AMASSED OVER 600 ITEMS, HOUSED AT INCE CASTLE IN CORNWALL, MANY WERE SADLY DAMAGED IN A FIRE IN 1984. THE NEXT 32 LOTS REPRESENT A SELECTION.
