Five similar beakers were sold in these Rooms on 9th July 2001, lots 36- 38. See also Simon Spero, Exhibition Catalogue (2002) no. 5 for one of these.

The naïve decoration on these beakers and the present lot bear marked similarities to the decoration found on 'Girl-in-a-Swing' porcelain, for example the cream-jug from the Rous Lench Collection, sold in these Rooms on 30th May 1990, lot 356. It has been suggested this type of decoration may be that of an independent London enameller. However, a St. James's attribution for both the porcelain manufactury and the decoration should not necessarily be discounted.
