    A Dutch East India Company hardwood work writing box, circa 1790, believed to be from Ceylon
    banded in brass and applied with engraved masked spandrels and copper bosses, four of the bosses stamped with a rampant lion within a shield surmounted by a crown, encircling a brass cartouche engraved with the monogram VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie), within a shield supported by lions. The interior compartmented with lift out trays. With brass swing handles to sides
