This distinctive service shares its striking rocaillerie border design with only two others so far known: the famous Dutch market blue and white tea production series and a group of brightly enamelled cockerel dishes. The Snoek family coat-of-arms incorporates two snook fish as a pun. Pieces from the service were in the Helena Woolworth McCann Collection (now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York) and the Cecil Bullivant Collection (sold Phillips, London, 22 March 1988, lot 355.)
