    Painted with a rectangular panel depicting two conversing scholars on a bridge in a moonlit river landscape, the reverse with a kingfisher perched on a cluster of trailing peony and bamboo, divided by two poems, some glaze frits

    A free translation of the poems are: 'In the mountains guest and friends meet; they do not stop talking; in doing this they sometimes meet by the bridge they must cross'; and: 'I name the fallen chrysanthemum as my brother, and am the master of the autumn river, prunus and bamboo are both lovable, as a red skirt may love the green well dressed man'.
