    Decorated on the exterior in copper red with five phoenix medallions and on the interior with a single medallion, all reserved against a soft greyish-white ground covering the interior, exterior and base

    The design on this bowl is based on a Kangxi prototype such as the smaller bowl included in the Special Exhibition of K'ang-hsi, Yung-cheng and Ch'ien-lung Porcelain, National Palace Museum Taipei, 1986, no. 7. A similar bowl, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 27 November 2007, lot 1696.
