    Jiajing six character mark, Ming dynasty
    Crisply carved with four long-tailed birds among flowering branches of cherry blossom on an incised diaper-pattern ground below the edged octafoil rim, the reverse with a dense meander of peony-heads, all supported on the cylindrical foot encircled by a zigzag band around a black lacquered base, incised and gilt with the six character Jiajing mark, some damage
