    A FINE UNDERGLAZE-BLUE AND YELLOW-ENAMELLED 'DRAGON' DISH
    KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN DOUBLE-CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)

    Well enamelled in yellow against a rich cobalt-blue ground with a five-clawed dragon chasing a 'flaming pearl' amidst clouds and flames on the central medallion, surrounded by two further dragons striding along the cavetto, the design repeated on the exterior above a lotus lappet band

    A Kangxi dish of this pattern is illustrated in the Tokyo National Museum Catalogue, Japan, 1965, no. 615; one from the Yokogawa Collection, also in the Tokyo National Museum, is illustrated in Toki Zenshu, no. 16, pl. 16; another in Mayuyama Seventy Years, vol. 1, no. 1047; compare also a pair sold at Chrisitie's Hong Kong, 30 April 2001, lot 693.
