Smaller Qianlong-marked bowls with this exact carving of whiskered dragons are illustrated in Carved Lacquer in the Collection of the Palace Museum, Wenwu Chubanshe, 1985, no. 339; and another in Gugong Qici Tezhan Mulu, 'National Palace Museum Special Exhibition of Lacquerwares', Taipei, 1981, no. 47 (both examples without the metal lining).
A pair of these Imperial carved lacquer bowls was sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 29 November 2005, lot 1564. Another, similar pair of shallow bowls, but unmarked, was also sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 29 April 2000, lot 598.
