    LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

    Of compressed globular form, raised on a straight circular foot, cast with a band of lotus petals, on the shoulder flanked by opposing-lion mask handles, the lotus petal band repeated encircling the base above the foot rim, all decorated with gilt splashes of varying sizes, the recessed base with an apocryphal Xuande mark, pierced wood cover
