    MARK OF JEAN-BAPTISTE-CLAUDE ODIOT, PARIS, 1798-1809
    The ovoid body on a tricorn base with a stiff leaf rim, on three foliage and palmette capped paw feet, with a circular lamp, the upper and lower body chased and engraved with foliage and applied on each side with a classical bust, the reeded spout terminating in a lion's mask with a palmette tap, with two scrolling handles with satyr mask terminals capped with Bacchic medallions, the flat cover with ebonised finial, marked under base, on edge of base, near rim, inside cover and on top of cover, the lamp marked underneath, on side and on cover, each piece also marked with a later French tax mark
