    A LARGE ARCHAISTIC GOLD-SPLASHED BRONZE CENSER, GUI
    QING DYNASTY, 17TH/18TH CENTURY

    With scrolling loop handles issuing from dragon heads bridging the widely flared neck and rounded lower body, either side of a wide central band cast in relief with archaistic taotie masks, phoenix and dragons on geometric grounds, all supported on a tall flaring foot with two raised bands, the deeply recessed base with an apocryphal Xuande sixteen-character mark, covered all over with uneven gold splashes
    12 in. (30.5 cm.) wide, wood stand and cover with agate finial, Japanese wood box
