Of rectangular form, the top painted with a scene of a Daoist immortal and attendants and a man with a water buffalo standing in a mountainous river landscape, with a further landscape on one long side, a tiger on the other and peony blossoms at each end, all within ogival cartouches and foliate spandrels, painted in brown on a white slip under a clear glaze, the base with the maker's stamp, Zhang jia zao, within a column raised on a lotus and capped by a leaf
