    A LARGE FAMILLE ROSE MODEL OF A PHEASANT
    19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY SAMSON
    Modelled standing on rockwork with its left foot raised with clenched claw, its head turned sharply to the right, enamelled with iron-red body with delicate darker feather markings, multi-coloured wing and tail feathers with gilt and white details, with gilt beak, eyes and spots on the iron-red comb, the rockwork decorated in shades of blue, turquoise, mauve and pink with striking vertical white lines

    A similar model of a pheasant, but turned to the left, was included in the auction of original factory models from the showroom of Etablissement Edmé Samson, sold in these Rooms, 23 July 1979, Lot 455 (model 6223). A pair of similar pheasants is in the Hodroff Collection, illustrated by D. S. Howard, The Choice of the Private Trader, London, 1994, no. 325, p. 270.
