    Brightly enamelled around the globular body with four Buddhist lions, two depicted in bold enamels playing with a brocade ball, alternating with two others in shades of iron-red and turquoise-green enamel, all below a band of scrolling chrysanthemum at the shoulder, and pendent tassels suspended from ruyi heads and a trellis band below the rim

    An almost identical bottle, but very slightly taller, is in the Rijksmuseum, illustrated by Christiaan J. A. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, London, 1997, no. 182, p. 166; it was formerly in the collection of J. Pierpont Morgan. Another very similar bottle is illustrated by Cosmo Monkhouse, Chinese Porcelain, fig. 33, and by Oskar Münsterberg, Chinesische Kunstgeschichte, vol. II, Esslingen, 1912, fig. 453, p. 315.
