    A comparable mortar with the same frieze motif and similar angular handles is illustrated on the cover of the 1953 edition of Dr Wittop Koning's Nederlandse Vijzels. The Wittop koning mortar is attributed to the Zutphen brass founder Segewin Hatiseren.
