    The finely detailed octagonal barrel inlaid in gilt and silver nunume-zogan with a dragon panelled by geometric design and Tokugawa mon surrounded by the inscription Tensho gannen, (1573) gogatsu [the fifth month] Matsudaira Awa nokami kore (wo) kazaru (the name of the metal inlayer) the stock with further Tokugawa mon in gold hiramaki-e, wood ramrod and silver inlaid stockplate
