    CIRCA 1725, INCISED DREHER'S X MARK
    Probably painted by P.E. Schindler, with a turbanned man by a peacock before a figure with a parasol and a child in an extensive landscape, within a shaped quatrefoil gilt and Böttger-lustre panelled cartouche edged with scrolls, within a gilt scroll border and gilt line rim, the underside with three iron-red concentric circles (minute chip to underside of rim at 4 o'clock, very slight wear to gilding and enamels)

    For the two prints by Johann Weigel (published in Nuremberg, 1720) which appear to have been used as sources for two of the figures on this saucer, see Siegfried Ducret, 'Vorbilder für Porzellanmalereien', Keramos, April 1969, No. 44, pp. 13-41, figs. 12 and 13. A print by Martin Engelbrecht (published in Augsburg, 1720) was probably used for the child, see Ducret, ibid., fig. 11.
