    Each of inverted tear-drop form, the waisted neck flanked by upright scroll handles, finely painted with apples and a plump bunch of grapes within a tooled gilt surround of flowers and scrolls surmounted by Cupid's bow and quiver, the sides and reverse with further scrolling vine, on a conforming acanthus-molded socle

    Frederick H. Chivers came to the Coalport factory in 1906 following a period at Worcester. He was 'called up' during the first World War but returned to the factory from 1920-1926. See Michael Messenger, Coalport 1795-1926, Suffolk, 1995, p. 383.
