A PAIR OF EARLY 19TH CENTURY SWISS SILVER CHAMBER CANDLESTICKS,
MARK OF FRERES GELY, LAUSANNE, CIRCA 1820,
Plain cylindrical columns on dished oval bases, bead borders, loop handle engraved with an armorial shield of two wings on a gold field with coronet above, each column with a narrow channel up one side through which travels a small cylindrical mechanism for retracting the candle, with a Greek key handle & four grooves at different levels at which the mechanism can rest by turning the handle into the groove, 8 in. high (20.2 cm.), 30 oz. (2)
