Each on a moulded carved wooden socle.
Some wear to polychromy; minor worming; the shepherd's left hand and the shepherdess's right forearm lacking; minor restorations.

Lot Essay

This pair of figures has traditionally been thought to represent a design for Chelsea porcelain, and although this association seems unjustified, it is not hard to see why a link with ceramic figurines should have been proposed.
