A similar pair of obelisks in black and white marble were in the collection of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis purchased from Vladimir Barjanasky. She loaned them to the White House during her husband's presidency where they sat on the mantel in the Red Room and were consequently sold with her Estate at Sotheby's New York, 23-26 April, 1996, lot 323. Another very closely related pair was sold anonymously, Christie's, New York, 19 October 2007, lot 224 ($30,000 exc. premium).
