    A pair of Satsuma vases, impressed Taizan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
    of tapering form decorated with a panel to each side painted with a traditional mountainous lake scene, framed by leafy flower scrolls on a gilt ground, above a continuous band of grass inhabiting a grasshopper, butterflies, a snail and dragonfly, the inverted neck covered with fishnet through which swimming octopus, squid, seabass, eel and other fish are visible, the top rim simulating bamboo sticks, each with impressed signature to the base -- 7 7/16in. (18.9cm.) high. (2)
