Christie’s are delighted to be entrusted with this 16-lot collection of jade carvings and hardstones. A further three lots from this collection will be offered in our Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale at King Street on November 10. The collector developed a fascination with Chinese art in the 1950s and quickly became captivated by the beauty of jade carvings. He acquired the majority of carvings during the 1960s buying from major international auction houses including Christie’s and Sotheby’s. A number of pieces are illustrated in early seminal works including Chinese Jades Throughout The Ages by S.C.Nott, 1936, and Early Chinese Jades by Pope Hennessy, 1923.
